I love the basement book store and coffee bar!! Sit and read a book on comfy couches while you enjoy a drink or shop the endless merchandise.

This place so so cute and everyone is so nice. I ordered a Chai Latte and the barista said “I’m going to give you light ice so you can get all the chai you paid for, but after you sip on it let me know if you want more.”

I wasn’t even planning on buying any books but I did purely because of how nice the staff were. I’ve been here 3 years in a row when I’ve gone to Montreat and it’s been a delight every time.

Beautiful place. Loved the assortment of books and literary-themed candles. The coffee bar was a fun, delicious surprise (highly reccommend the vanilla lavender latte) and the staff were all very kind and fun to be around. They had free samples of vegan and gluten-free peanut butter cookies, which was very exciting for me because I have a dairy allergy and hardly ever get to have baked goods at places. They have a few chairs and I would love to come back sometime and spend a few hours just hanging out in the store.

What a gem. The bookstore downstairs is the icing on the cake here. It’s like being in the back corner basement of a library, amongst hundreds of books waiting to be read, with a real coffee bar hidden back between a velvety layout of bookshelves…also, the barista is a sweetheart.

This Saturday, October 10th we’ve got a very exciting lineup of local authors! Joining us are three local authors: Pat Scheffler, Elizabeth Mowery, and Emily Montgomery Hunt!

From 10:00 - 11:30 author Pat Scheffler will have her children’s book “Hi! I’m Mildred!” Based on the true story of Mildred “The Bear Who Didn’t Know She Was a Bear” from North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains! It’s so cute!

Then at 12:30 - 2:30 we welcome Elizabeth Mowry with books 1-3 in her young adult fantasy series “The Unforgettable Tales of Adeline Bigsby.” A coming-of-age series that follows the protagonist from tragedy to an ancient secret, to making friends, to discovering herself and what she is capable of. And’s that’s barely even the beginning!

Then to wrap up our day, Emily Montgomery Hunt will join us from 3:00 - 5:00. Emily is the author of “Knee Deep in Donuts” a collection of stories from her experience with motherhood. It’s not a parenting guide, but a funny and honest book meant to remind mothers they aren’t alone. It’s full of stories Emily wished others had told her.
